Went for a birthday dinner with wife, parents/in-laws and a 90 year old grandparent. Lots of shellfish based sauces on menu so when asked to substitute one cockle sauce for basic brown butter told that the chef basically wouldn't allow it. Either dry or with the intended sauce, no other option. Really disappointed with the inflexibility of the chef especially given greater awareness in the food industry regarding allergies (and hopefully accommodating customer preferences!). Also, two inebriated punters decided to have a go with verbal abuse when we decided to pay for our drinks and try elsewhere... Won't be going back.
Very impressed with the venue. Proper pub with good atmosphere and beers. Friendly helpful staff and phenomenally good food.
Excellent friendly pub in center of Hayfield. A warm welcome, quality food, good ales, a roaring fire and dog friendly. Perfect after a walk on the surrounding hills.
Best sea food in a pub! It was really quiet when I visited, but the food came so fast and was full of flavour and really filling. Had the coley, as the barman recommended it and it was TASTY!
Great staff, the food was delicious. We had scallops, lamb, venison, seabass, pasta, all cooked to our taste and presentation was beautiful. We recommend this pub and will come again .
